Performance Home for Local Arts Organizations
The Garland Cultural Arts Commission (GCAC) was formed in 1986 by the Garland City Council to serve as a liaison between City and community-based arts and historic groups. The Commission's primary goal is to increase the visibility of the arts in Garland. The GCAC sponsors the Arts In Action Newsletter, an annual Senior Art Show with the GISD, and the annual Business for the Arts Award in association with the Garland Chamber of Commerce. The GCAC Incorporated administers a Sub-Grant program for local groups. These activities are made possible through 15% of the hotel/motel tax revenues.

Garland Civic Theatre
The Garland Civic Theatre (GCT) was founded in 1968 and is the oldest community theatre group in Dallas County. The GCT season begins in August and ends in May. For more information call 972-900-6105.
Garland Summer Musicals
The Garland Summer Musicals (GSM) was founded in 1983 by the Performing Arts Center Guild in order to create a professional musical theatre program for Garland. Over the years, the GSM has worked closely with Dallas County Community College District through Richland and Eastfield Colleges to offer scholarships to theatre students who are cast in the productions. The GSM has received critical acclaim for the quality of their productions. Auditions are in April and shows are presented in June and July. Call 972-205-2790 for information.
Garland Symphony Orchestra
The Garland Symphony Orchestra (GSO) provides quality entertainment within the Garland community. Founded in 1978, the GSO is a professional orchestra that offers eight subscription concerts. The GSO season is from October through May. Guest artists are featured throughout the season and season ticket prices are available. For more information, call 972-926-0611.
Company of Rowlett Performers (CORP)
The Company of Rowlett Performers was founded by Donna Covington and a group of enthusiastic parents in March of 2000. The company began as an after-school program and has grown into a thriving community theater company that performs at the Plaza Theatre year-round. For more information, visit CorpTheatre.org.
Garland Square Pickers
The Garland Square Pickers Bluegrass organization was established in the early 1990s. During the months of April through October, concerts are held on the Square in Downtown Garland every Saturday night.
Garland Landmark Museum Society
The Garland Landmark Society was formed in 1973 by the City Council. The former Santa Fe Railroad Depot was built in 1901 and was preserved by the Society. The Depot currently houses the Museum, which holds artifacts from the period 1850 to the present. Adjacent to the Museum is a Pullman Railroad car, which is also being restored. The Garland Landmark Society’s annual Calendar is available at the museum, which is open on the first and third Saturdays of each month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, call 972-205-2996.
Garland Independent School District
The Garland Independent School is committed to the education of the whole child and as a component of that education believes that:
- Every student should have basic knowledge, skills, and appreciation of the fine arts.
- A quality arts education program will enable students to develop the self-esteem, self-discipline, self-motivation, and cooperation necessary for success in life.
The Garland Independent School District (ISD) Fine Arts Department has many performances and activities throughout the school year. You are invited to attend these performances to witness the fine work being done by both the students and the teaching staff. Breitling Performing Arts
Training children in performing arts since 2010, Breitling Performing Arts is a 501 c-3 non-profit organization dedicated to educating children in acting, singing, music, musical theatre, dance, and painting. We work with kids from Beginning to Advanced skill level as well as all temperaments and learning challenges.
