The ongoing $1.7 billion LBJ East project will widen and improve Interstate 635 between Central Expressway and Interstate 30 – the Garland area’s busiest traffic corridor.
Various lanes along both directions of Interstate 635 are closed between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. between U.S. Highway 75 and I-30 through Monday morning, Sept. 28. The right lane of southbound Shiloh Road before Interstate 635 is closed from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day through Friday, Sept. 25.
The rebuild of the I-30 interchange is a major component of the LBJ East project and lanes of I-30 are closed overnight through Monday morning, Sept. 28 in that area. The westbound I-30 connector to southbound I-635 will close at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, and reopen at 5 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 27. Also near the interchange, the Northwest Drive entrance ramp to westbound I-30 and the eastbound I-30 exit to Northwest Drive have been closed permanently.
The I-30 HOV lane is closed between Northwest Drive on the Garland side of I-635 and Jim Miller Road in Dallas. I-30 HOV lanes between Jim Miller Road and downtown Dallas remain open. The HOV/Express managed toll lanes between Oates Drive and TI Boulevard also remain closed until the project is completed. The rebuilt tolled managed lanes will have shoulders and be separated from the main lanes by concrete barriers.
