Garland Welcomes New Cultural Arts Director

David Fisher joined the City of Garland as Cultural Arts Director on July 5.

David has served as an arts administrator and artist in North Texas for nearly 30 years. He began his Texas career at the Dallas Children’s Theater, served as the Executive Director of the Turtle Creek Chorale and spent 24 years with the City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture. 

David served in various positions with the City of Dallas including Assistant Director, Interim Director, and Manager of the Bath House Cultural Center, Meyerson Symphony Center and WRR Radio. He created the annual Festival of Independent Theaters and served on the various teams that developed the Latino Cultural Center and Moody Performance Hall. Additionally, he created new grant programs for artists and arts organizations, and led both the Culture Pass and Space Finder Initiatives.

David has a Master of Fine Arts in Directing from Tulane University and a Master of Business Administration in Nonprofit Management from the University of Dallas.

Patty Granville will retire later this summer.
